Ok so I met this guy off the internet around 4 month's and we have been chatting like most day's since but now he wants to meet up with me and every time he tries I just blow it off and make up stories, In ways I feel like he is coming on a bit strong as he asks me to meet up a lot of times during the week but that could be purely because I keep rejecting the offer's so he is making other plans which I understand..

I am 17 a lad and gay have never been on a date with another guy, I have had snogs etc before but I dunno if I want my first date to be with someone off the internet. I feel bad for him as he seems interested and I keep blowing off the plan because of my low self esteem in that I think he won't like me when we meet up in person or that I will be nervous to be on a date with a guy.

I am comfortable in a way with my sexuality enough to admit it although I still get kinda embarrassed but I haven't had much exposure to the gay scene so really I still feel scared when a guy goes for me even if I wanted him like everyone would watch and comment...

I really don't want to drag him along and I have told him that I think he mightn't like me which is a big step as I am never open to people I don't know too well. I was scared he would think that was a bit full on and freak out but he was grand about it, It is just I get so annoyed that I can't help it..

I do want to meet up with him though but what if he doesn't like me(Sorry I sound so stupid)...

    What should I do?

If you like him you should go, he seems keen. Maybe suggest you meet as friends so at least for the first meeting there is no akward situations. Dont forget to tell someone where your going and when you'll be back and text ready in case he's a crazy! If he doesnt like you........next!:) Not the end of the world eh?

    young man
you have to bite the bullet and get out there
youre only young so what if he doesnt like you you have years to perfect the art.
also judging by the way he keeps trying sounds like he is really into you. relax but be safe aswell follow the internet dating rules like public places get a friend to ring etc.
    good luck

If you do choose to meet him make sure that it is in a public place (during the daytime) and tell someone where you are going!!! Be careful.

You just need to get out there and believe in yourself I guess. Confidence is the key or so I'm told.

I myself would be wary about meeting people from the internet but if you do eventually decide to meet up with him then tell people where you're going, meet in a very public area or if there's any friends that can go with you and make sure you're alright for a while and then leave you and meet up with you later would also be my recommendation.

    Good luck.

Aye. Despite the best intentions, you don't 'know' this person, and all the better to develop some interpersonal trust before you place yourself in a potentially risky situation.

Don't agree to meet up for sex or anything. Go somewhere public where you can both share a common interest and go on a few dates first.
