Job Seekers Benefit Status

    Hi,

I graduated college in the summer and started my job in October.

However last week I got laid off and I am just wondering if I have paid enough PRSI to be eligable for the Job Seekers Benefit.

I have worked the following summers where I paid PRSI but I dont know if the credits carry forward:

    2002
    2003
    2005
    2006

From this info does anyone think I should even think about the JSB and just go apply for the JSA instead?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Jim

the JSB will need PRSI paid 2 years previously to claiming, so in your case, 2007.
if you don't have enough in 2007, what they do is split it between 2007 and 2006 in some way.

it'll probably be the JSA you'll get.

either way, jsut go down to your local SW Office. it'll take them 2 mins to check if you're eligible for JSB, and if not, then they'll just give you the form for JSA to fill out.
