just playing cod4. noticed all my kills get just +5 points when i kill someone.
Whats the best way of getting higher? if i knife someone will i get +10 etc..
also in the lobby at your name it has a badge(depending on rank). whats the number beside it e.g 9 or 35 etc.. is this your overall rank?

I think you get 5xp in freeforall and war. And 10xp in team deatmatch etc. But if you play search and destroy you will get 50xp a kill, but if you get killed you have to wait till the end of the round to respawn. And the first to win 4 rounds win.

Yes the number is the rank. But you might have noticed people sometime might be at the same number as you but have a different logo? this means that they are at a prestige level ie they finished the firs 55 levels then started again. and this can be done up to 10 times.

Correct. S&D is best best way to rack up XP points fast!

If the OP is playing on the PC he will not see this as there is no Prestige on PC.

well, I would recommend playing tdm, but to the OP, play whatever gametype you enjoy most.

have u tried the latest promod?, cod4 is now basically cod2 with better netcode, sprint and no rifles, the list of changes to the game is endless just to make the game halfway playable(reducing dmg on guns, making nades uncookable, limiting smg, no perks cept bandolier which ppl are considering taking out so ppl dont abuse wallbang with their massive clips), stock cod4 is a complete dif game to the promodded version, i hated cod4 when it came out tbh, it had novelty value with the perks and nades but that wore thin after the millionth cook nade, one of the main reasons cod5 didnt get a big scene is coz everyone seen it as another massive effort to mod. even still the game still feels stale with the same 2 weaps being used over and over, i think its pretty much definite that cod1/2 will be the only two cod titles where public was enjoyable and was pretty much the same as the war mod. Its sickening to me though that cod4 purely survived on the effort of the community to make it good even though they have to perfectly good titles in cod1/2 which did not need any modding( an opion shared by quite alot of people considering the support cod2 revival got and still is getting), both could maybe do with one or two touch ups but nothing even close to the extent that cod4 needed. And im 100% sure codmw:2 will need the same amount if not more modding. This fact also inhibits any new players starting to play to get some competitive experience as them playing promod is like playing a different albeit better game, also there is **** all of a skill curve coz cod4 has no recoil so its pretty much point and click.
