Help scratched my glasses

I was cycling to college today and my glasses fell off. One of the lens fell out and there is a big scratch right in the middle of it. Was wondering is there any DIY stuff i can do to fix it up? I seen a tip on Wiki answers. Putting toothpaste on it and rubbing it lightly. So i tested a bit of toothpaste on a CD-R to see what might happen and it scratched it to bits. So i dont want to try that on my lens. Any tips?

unfortunatly no there is nothing you can so to remove scratches.
The internet will tell you many wonderful things, such as microwaving the lenses, but THIS DOES NOT WORK!

Trust me, my lab makes over 1200 pairs of glasses per week, we've tried and tested all the "methods"

The only thing for it is a new lense
