Neverlost vs TomTom in US

I have a TomTom One v3 with WE maps and will be traveling in the States this summer both in New England and Nevada (with a plane ride to cover the chunk inbetween!). Based on the rental cost of Neverlost, it would seem cheaper to backup the current maps and buy the USA maps from TomTom to use out there, but I wonder if…

Based on the rental cost of Neverlost, it would seem cheaper to backup the current maps and buy the USA maps from TomTom to use out there, but I wonder if Neverlost has any special advantages over the One that would mean I'd be better off going with Hertz's GPS?
