It's really bad all right, I was looking for a Ultegra SL Compact Chainset at around £120 and now £180+.

That's the spirit Shimano. When there's a recession, charge more!

My shifters look like good value now ;)

That's pretty eye watering alright. You can get the new Chorus 11 speed shifters for cheaper than that.

I'm officially defecting to Campag. Now if I only had the money to get a Campag gruppo.

it's weird - seems to be only the road stuff that has gone up, the mtb stuff is still the same price.

Ironically in all of this the pound exchange rate is getting stringer again and should be back to 80p to the euro soon.

The biggest shock I got was when I saw the price of these Dura Ace Brakes for €250!!! I know its Dura-Ace and all but hey....is that price right? €400 for the shifters alone...wow!

    It sure is.

Though when compared to the latest and greatest from Zero Gravity, they look like a bargain. $1,200 for a pair of brakes.

has anyone checked a site using euros as a base currency as opposed to sterling?

1200 for brakes. I guess they have a camera attached to the front of you bike which is attached to the computer which scans the road for bumps and applies the brakes automatically.

I hear ya! I recall seeing in cycling weekly (one of those grapvine articles) that wiggle had 5 in stock when they were launched and they sold out in less than a week!....ok who was it.....

I'm surprised they sold out. I'd figured that it was a case of bad timing for Lightweight seem as how Campag have moved on to 11 speed, although you can still use it with Shimano.

Very true....although I'm guess somebody who spends this sort of money on a derailleur is in a different leauge when it comes to spending power...and will just buy the 11 speed anway....more money than sense! Have to admit though, anyone who spends that sort of money on a derailleur should be shot....its just downright wrong!

I've yet to read any user reviews on how well the thing shifts.

    I'd like to think telepathically!

To be honest I'g be surprised if any pro teams use it, as I can't imagine any of the big 3 being happy with their groupsets slowly being eroded!

Nope, not that I'm aware of. Lightweight don't sponsor much. For years, they only sponsored a few individual riders. In fact, as far as I know, most pros on Lightweights actually bought their own. Now they just have Milram among the top tier, but that's just for wheels.

Other thing is that the derailleur is over twice the price of other top end ones, but only 50g lighter than Super Record, 30g lighter than Red. I'm sure you could get some of those weights lower with tuning kits.

    fyp.

Cycle superstore are doing the entire groupset for 1350 (that the new Dura-ace) pro bike kit seem to be doing them for 1250 sterling !! the days of the sterling bargains seem gone !!
