I too would like to change my name on the basis that the user 'veryangryman' is reading my posts.

The reason said user wishes to change is name and remove posts is that I am reading them. Maybe I have a high opinion of myself to believe this, but there wasn't a problem up to a few hours ago when said user didn't know I was on this site.

Also, there is no problem between us, we went to college together, and now work for the same company. I shall now email this very angry man to say hello.

So if you could change my name too and delete my posts I'd be forever grateful. After all, who doesn't want privacy when writing on a PUBLIC forum on the internet? (I wear these shades to conceal my identity)

I'm not going to delete your posts. Put simply, when you signed up we said that isn't done and you said that was OK (the terms of use on day one). I assume at some point, you've both discovered that you're both on boards.ie through seeing each other typing on the site or something similar.

Name changes are available to subscribers only, as mentioned in the other thread where your friend also appears to want the same thing.

I suspect that however the two of you found out you were both on boards.ie is something that will happen again at some point after the two of you change your usernames if you did. Neither of your accounts have caused any difficulty for anyone as far as I can see. Why you both want to remain anonymous from each other is none of my business (as it happens, anyone who knows I use this site presumably knows that my username is and it doesn't bother me but that's just me).

So, the solution. Suggestion for both of you. Stop using your current accounts. Sign up with different usernames. Neither of you will know who the other is, at least assuming you don't do whatever you both did before to reveal your secret identities. Now, I'd almost certainly be able to find out what your new usernames are but as long as there's no particular reason for me ever to check, it's not something I'll bother doing.

Do the above. Problem goes away. Let's call this the exception to the rule that one account is enough. It's not typical advice and shouldn't be taken as such. It's dependent on you never using the old account again though. And it's a one-time offer - as your privacy is that important, fix it so that you don't both rediscover each other in the future (repeatedly setting up new accounts is a no-no). I should point out though, that I have friends who use boards.ie and I recognised them solely by their posting styles and what they were posting about - that's a problem that the two of you will have to sort out on your own (people know their friends, eventually they recognise them).

Incidentally, while I reckon that's the best way out for both of you, if one of the admins disagrees with me, all the above is void as it's their site and ultimately their call.

Disclaimer that doesn't apply to you: this isn't good advice for anyone else who's ever caused problems on the site (for those people, sign up again and you will almost definitely be found out, your posts will be deleted and it will be as if you never existed)

    Why thank you sceptre!!

But I think you missed the sarcasm in my post. I really don't want my account changed in any way. I got nothing to hide. And if I did, I wouldn't be discussing it on this site.

I wrote the above post more in a way to highlight the silliness of the original request.

    Sorry for the time wasting.

    :(

Seems to be no sense of fun in the boards office

I'll consider it a slap on the wrist

None of work in the "boards office". We're here on our own time. Like you.

But yes, your sarcasm was missed :)
