Plumbing - problem with Monsoon pump

I bought a 3.4 bar positive head Monsoon pump, we're re-doing bathroom. Plumber has just been on and apparently the pump will not shut off when the water is turned off. I bought it from a site in the UK so I cannot just bring it back. Before getting into shipping it back for a new one or that kind of thing. I'm wondering if there might be an agent in Ireland for these pumps that might support the issue? The plumber knows what he's at so I'm pretty sure it is a genuine issue with the pump. Any suggestions on what I should do would be welcome. Thanks.

it is usually just a flow switch stuck, on both inlets, there should be a band with a wire attached, remove them and stick them back on, see if it helps.

thanks a mill, that's what it was alright, singing away now and stops as expected. the last house i was in had a pump that had a very strong mind of its own, would sometimes play ball and turn off, other times would keep going on/off for ages, so deligted to get a good result this time

Anyone know someone that could have a look at a Monsoon pump for me? I have just been on to Modern Plant and its 120 for the callout, that's before parts :eek::eek::eek:

In Terenure area in Dublin. Pump just stopped working this morning, been a bit temperamental recently, not starting when the tap opened, sometimes takes a while to kick in, sometimes it takes opening & closing the tap a couple of times to do so.

You need to contact a good plumber.

Is that a joke? I have a plumbing issue and I have asked for help, to see if anyone knows someone to look at the problem. And you suggest I need a good plumber. On a scale of 1 to 10, how helpful or informative do you think that was. Or esle you're winding me up??!!

It is a plumber you need and you are posting in the wrong section for this. You are also hijacking an old thread so jokes all around i imagine.

There is not much can go wrong with these pumps.

If it is old it is either the flow switch or the seals.

If you disconnect the pump and bring it to modern plant they will not charge the call out

However....Modern plant will not entertain your request if the pump was not bought from there agents in ireland.

You can check this by giving them your pump serial number.
