I don't think you can. I remember reading somewhere that the TV cards must take the same inputs. I think it was MCE2005 I was reading about, so maybe something has changed since.

It would be cool if you could mix it up.

Dont see why not, i have the same analogue card as you have plus a dvb-c card working along side each other sharing the same guide. TV Pack makes this possible.

How do you set that up? And could have the same channel from both sources? If so, which does it use?

Do you know if the TV Pack is built into Win7?

I have a very similar setup with my HTPC. I have a dual DVB-S and dual Analogue PCI cards in my HTPC. Vista Media Centre with TV pack hides the fact that there are multiple cards in the PC.

I have it set up such that in the EPG, RTE1 is channel 1, RTE2 is channel2 ... BBC1 is channel 10 ... and so on. It doesn't matter that they are physically on different PCI cards.

AFAIK, Windows7 has TV Pack built in.

For these scenarios posted, the tuner is getting & changing the channels itself.

If for instance NTL digital was used which uses composite inputs and the infrared emitter to change the channel, could that be mixed with a satellite dvb-s input?

Off topic question - are there HD dvb-s cards available and will media centre record HD quality?

Yes (with a hacked dll file)

DVB-S2 doesn't seem to be used for any HD channel yet that I can tell.

I have a dual DVB-S card (Pinnacle 7010ix) and I can received BBC HD perfectly with the hacked DLL mentioned on thegreenbutton.com.

Windows 7 supports HD "out of the box".

Very tempted to add this to my setup. I want to keep my NTL for footy and broadband but I could either replace my input into the HTPC with the satellite feed or add it to it as mentioned above. Its a pity the Irish channels are not that FTA satellite.

I know theres something going on with the Irish channels in a trial for freeview which are transmitted in mp4 format. I assume theres some card out that will let it work with media center. I suppose it would have to decode the mp4 and encode in mp2.

So if I wanted to add in a dual DVB-S card for HD content, what do I need? A satellite dish, a twin LNB and satellite coax cable? Do I need a receiver or will the card alone do? I don't know too much about this. Is it worth using a quad LNB if putting up from scratch?

I have one of those Aldi camping ones which has seen the light of day for 5 mins while I checked the contents and put it away. Damn impulse purchases. I suppose thats not much use for this. Its single LNB afiak. And the dish is not meant to be permanently up.

At a minimum, you'll need a twin LND to allow to to use a dual DVB-S card. If I were you, I'd get a quad LNB just in case. I have a quad LNB, 2 feeds to Sky and 2 feeds to the HTPC.
Your HTPC will become your receiver when you have a dual DVB-S card in it. No need for a seperate receiver.
