Boating on the Shannon

    Just wondering if people think it is better to book a boat now or wait until a week or two before I want to go and ring them up and see if there are any last minute deals.

    Has any one tried to ring at the last minute (carrick craf, emerald star etc.) and if so did they get anywhere?

    Thanks

    The usual rule is to book as early as possible, but times have changed and now I would highly recommend getting on their email list for special offers. We got 25% off the last June bank holiday and had weather like this;

    A more enjoyable and relaxing holiday in Ireland you can't have. The other boat owners were lovely and were no end of help. I highly recommend Lough Derg as it's the most scenic (IMHO) and there are so many free public harbours within easy reach (unless it's windy, then head north up the river instead).

    I'm hoping to get away again this year. We use Emerald Star in Portumna as it's easy to reach from Dublin.

    Wow 25% off in June seems amazing as that is the high season and last June I think things with the economy were still not at a head.

    Think I will wait and try my luck nearer the time,

    Thanks
