    Hey all,
I drive a 99 1.9 TDI VW Golf. I've just been looking round and saw for sale a tuning chip for my car. Says it will give me 35Bhp more.

My questions are, are these safe, good for my car, do they work, are they easy to fit? etc.

    Thanks for your help.

I was also lokoing at these for my own golf tdi (90bhp) but I was advised that if i wanted so any significant increase powerwise i'd have to upgrade the injectors and turbo, as the ones that are already on the car wouldn't see much of an improvement.

If you have the 130/150bhp you would see a fair improvemnet if you got it chipped. IIRC the 130/150 bhp have the bigger turbos and injectors.

Also getting the engine chipped is meant to give you better MPG and is pretty safe for the engine.

    What bhp is your golf?

Its the same as yours, straight 90Bhp.
You say more mpg, is it worth installing just for that??

I'm not sure how much more MPG you'll get but I didn't bother going ahead with it because for me to get any reasonable increase performance wise I'd have had to upgrade injectors and the turbo, they where charging €600 to do the job I think.

I cant remember the name of the company that were doing it but they were based in Dublin.

Here is a previous thread on this topic, it might explain better what I'm trying to say!;)
