    Hi,
I have a 2005 D4D Verso that takes a long time to heat up, the engine takes 10 minutes to return to normal idle revs.

    Is this normal ?

    Thanks

Presumably you are driving it during the 10 minutes?

When you say a long time to heat up, how long do you mean, Is the car new to you. On some of them models there is a button that brings up the revs, and i have found people hitting it with ther knee getting in and out of the vehicle.

10 mins, yes it is new to me. It has a starting button rather than a key but I have not noticed any other button.

    Thanks for the replies.

what are the symptoms? is the car idling at a higher rpm than usual when cold? does it drive differently than usual? does the blue low temp light take longer to go out than usual?

Only had it a couple of weeks, compared to my a4 it takes an age to heat up.

Blue temp light stays on and engine revs while cold ( as if the choke was out )

It could be normal but its the first diesel I have had to do this.

Sounds like a Toyota to me no?

In some cars, mostly 4x4's have an IDLE up button, which will heat the engine up faster by slightly revving it.

But any toyotas or jap cars i've being in have done this of upping rev's to heat up and if your in traffic it takes longer.
With the savagely cold weather the last few weeks aint going to help a car warm up quicker!

Diesels generally take longer to warm up. a 2.0 D-4D could take 15 minutes of driving before water gauge is up to temp, hard to see how hot or cold without a proper gauge.

Verso doesn't have an idle up button from what I remember, "Lex Luthor" can confirm this?
