    I got this off Independent.ie
Search underway for snowboarders trapped on Lugnacoille

A search is continuing this morning for two snowboarders who became trapped in the Wicklow Mountains last night.
The pair are understood to have gotten into difficulty while snowboarding on Lugnacoille.
They raised the alarm at around 9.30pm and a search involving the coastguard helicopter was launched, but bad weather is hampering the operation.
The two snowboarders are understood to have been in regular contact with the emergency services during the night.

    Climbers stranded in Wicklow Mountains
    Tuesday, 10 February 2009 08:07

A search is continuing for two men who have been stranded in the Wicklow Mountains overnight.

The men have been lost on Lugnaquilla since they went climbing there yesterday afternoon.

The two men were on the mountain when a freezing fog reduced visibility at around 4pm.

The pair dropped their map and were unable to find it.

The men raised the alarm on a mobile phone and mountain rescue teams have had some contact with them through the night, however their exact location is unknown.

Members of the Dublin, Wicklow and Glen of Imaal mountain rescue teams and the Defence Forces have been searching on foot on the snowy mountain overnight.

The coastguard helicopter has searched the mountain twice but difficult weather conditions forced it back down.

A large scale operation began at first light in an effort to locate the two men who have spent the night in freezing conditions.

oh god, that's not good - hope they are rescued soon....
hopefully they were wearing thermals under their regular boarding gear so they can at least keep their temps up but that would be bpretty scary being in touch with emergency crews and them not knowing where you are exactly

Hope they're okay, but I must ask, what in the hell possessed them to leave it that late before calling for help? As soon as you are lost or its getting dark I'd imagine would be the right time.
I do hope the get found okay and pronto.

    were they not hiking?

All the reports I've heard said Hikers or Climbers, not boarders...
