Hi, I've got a 4gb usb key & i'm currently using vista as my op sys.

At the moment I've the usb key setup as bootable with a version of linux on it but what i'd like to do is partition the key and just have on of the partitions bootable and the second partition as the traditional usb storage device.

I've been searching a few forums and google results getting diff answers everywhere but none have sucessfully worked. Anyone got any ideas as i stay messing about with it.

windows only recognises ONE partition on removable media

you can hack the reg to make the usb look like a fixed drive , but you can't eject it

or set up a FAT32 partition at the start of the drive that windows can see and then the linux partion later on - linux will see both, windows will only see the first even if the second is also FAT32 or if you use EXT3 windows drivers

the first partition can be bootable, I've not looked further in to getting the second partition bootable with set as active

you can use ubuntu boot cd to creage a startuyp disk and reserve space on it but it may get confused as the USB is seen as CDROM read only and you may have to remount it

    Moving to unix
