New A4 - Brilliant Red Ibis White or Quartz Grey?

Comments

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,605 ✭✭✭Fizman

Creating a poll may be a good idea?

It would have to be the white for me. Any new A4 i've seen so far in white has had me turning my head like that bird in the exorcist. :)

How do i create a poll?

Love the white myself but would be a bit worried about resale?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,675 ✭✭✭ronnie3585

Pictures and a poll would be nice but the answer is easy - grey.

Do not like white cars, a bit too drug dealer/gangsta rapper for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,712 ✭✭✭✭R.O.R

I've not seen a brilliant red up close, but the picture looks good.

We've had a few Quartz Grey's in and it is a lovely colour, but says something completly different about you than the white. The white screams "LOOK AT ME!!!!!!" - I delivered the one we had in and felt like a total prat driving it. The Grey is for someone that doesn't really want to stand out. I'd put the Red somewhere in between the two.

Aruba Blue would be another possibility for me.

Got the A6 in white, and it looks fantastic. have seen the A4 too in white and its stunning. Red looks a bit....boring, to be honest.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,102 ✭✭✭✭Drummerboy08

The grey is the only colour to get. The white is nice in it, but when it comes to resale time, you'll take a hit on it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,035 ✭✭✭✭-Chris-

Go with the Grey - with red or white, anything you save on purchase price you'll lose on resale (and then some).

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 629 ✭✭✭cashmni1

Sorry lads, but red for me. Then white and last of all, grey. The grey is very plain an boring. Just another grey/silver car. All the same to me.
I do like some cars in red, it does't suit all cars but i thought that the red Audi looked the dogs.
    Just my 2 c.

Are you buying it or is it a company car?

White/Red if company car, grey if it's your moolah.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,616 ✭✭✭TomMc

Grey for me too, red is too flash and white too johnny come lately.

I'd prefer liquid blue or sphere blue myself or even meteor grey. Silver is a little boring. It is a pity they do not do them in sprint blue or condor grey. They would make an A4 look more the part, depending whether you wanted sporty or classy.

I delivered an A4 Sport in Brilliant Red with a beige leather interior.

When I ordered it, I thought it was going to be a really bad combination, but when it came in it was really very striking. Virtually everyone who saw it liked it.

One other question I'd have OP is what kind of wheels are you going to have on it?
Don't even think about ordering a red or white without putting some decent wheels on it - it'll just look "cheap" otherwise.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 110 ✭✭poreilly101

The Grey is just that little too safe ( Said he that drives a grey car)

Unless your name ends in zy, or you call yourself Vanilla... The white is out

It just has to be the Red...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 174 ✭✭DirtyOilBurner

Bought the quartz grey today, will take to weeks to get it tho as its just off production line, it has the upgraded s line wheels as it is a s line, couldnt actually get a s line in the south off a audi dealer, 12 week waiting list.... Thanks for all your opinions, i think the red and white are lovely but if you put them beside the grey the grey looks a far superior classy car, i was worried about the others looking tacky....

Best of luck with it, beautiful car in any colour.

Yep, it's a kind of Forest Green, fairly dark.

Please tell me you didnt buy a car without checkin the VRT?

Bought the car checked the vrt, but i cant get an answer off revenue regarding extras?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,102 ✭✭✭✭Drummerboy08

Ah, thats where the inspection will come in then. They seem to be fairly lax on older cars, but for the newer cars it'l be inspected. Bring her into your local VRO, and prepare to be bent over the barrel....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,035 ✭✭✭✭-Chris-

My thoughts would be to get the entire spec of the car, price it up based on an Irish RRP price list, take off 8% to give you the OMSP, multiply it by your VRT rate.

More accurately, get all the pricing information above and give it to the VRO for them to calculate the VRT for you.

Possibly doing it the wrong way around to buy the car first and then ask how much it will cost, but what's done is done.

Thats the extras, not that much so shouldnt be too bad?? Emissions are 139 on the tax book but on the vrt website they say they are 144?

Cant believe that grey is winning. So sad so sad. Its the weakest of the greys. Nothing on Daytona or Platinum (VW) grey. Way too close to silver, which is the safe-for-the-next-buyer colour your parents and farmers buy.

White or Red, its close, maybe White if some of the chrome and trim are blacked out, like the RS4 Black Optics, kinda like this S3:

Sorry, I thought you were ordering a brand new car (hence the 12 week wait).
If you're buying something already registered it'll be a slightly different calculation. If it's brand new, then what tax book are you referring to?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 174 ✭✭DirtyOilBurner

Yes its brand new but only 2-3 week wait as its allready built but still in germany, buying it off isaac agnew and thats what they said anyway, the salesman said the emissions are 139 i dont know where thats wrote but it is 100%, no there would be no tax book yet i suppose and its not going to be registered in ni at all issac agnew are delivering it to me to be registered?? That make sense? Thanks

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,035 ✭✭✭✭-Chris-

    Emissions on an A4 2.0TDi 143 or 179BHP Manual is 139. 120BHP is 134. 143BHP Multitronic is 149.

Emissions were higher in the 2.0TDi 143BHP up until week 22 last year, I'd expect the VRO haven't updated their CO2 figures since then.

    I think you're safe with 139 CO2s.

I have an A4 2.0Tdi 120 (all show, no go )on order to UK S-Line Spec (also Quartz Grey). Before the VAT rate increase the total Ex. Works cost of that was €55,855 including metallic paint. I can't remember if that is just to S-Line spec, or whether there were a few more extra's included.

I've listed the ROI prices for the extras you listed. This is based on the 2.0Tdi 143ps from the July A4 options prices - never recieved a more up to date version so these are pre VAT increase.

    Acoustic Parking System - Rear £300.00 - €562
    Audi Music Interface £169.57 - €353
Bluetooth Mobile Phone Connection Located In Front Centre Armrest £317.39 - €325
Heated Front Seats With Individual Controls And Variable Temperature Adjustment £213.04 - €475
    Metallic - Quartz Grey £469.57 - €1,110
    Servotronic Pas £152.17 -€310

Total worst case scenario based on the above:
    Car cost = €60,215 (55,855 + 4,360 as I think yours is the 170ps?)
Extras = €2,025 (metallic included in my €55,855)

    OMSP = €57,260.80 (€62,240 less 8%)
    VRT = €9,161.73

This all depends on what the revenue value an S-Line A4 at as the model isn't sold in Ireland. For your sake, I'd hope they don't value it at €55k. There are over €18,000 of extra's on a standard A4 on the one we have on order

The best part of 56k on a A4 120?! Is that, not em, a bit mad?

As far as i can see, €44,970.00 is the price of one with all the extra's listed, and the S line styling kit. Have i got my wires crossed here?

There is a lot more to a UK S-Line Spec than just interior and exterior S-Line packs (I know, took about 5 hours to sort through the feckin spec).
    S-Line Sports Package (WQS) 3,581
    S-Line Exterior Package (PQD) 2,253
    Black Valcona Leather (N1V) 3,060
    Light & Rain Sensor (8N6) 170
Bluetooth Prep Centre Armrest (PT5) 713
Audi Music Interface (7D3) (IPOD) 333
    Xenon Headlights (PX4) with DRL's 1,323
    18" 5 Spoke Alloys (C8S) -
    Auto Dipping Mirrors (4L6) 333
    DVD Navigation System (PNA) 4,750
    Driver info System (9QV) 157
    Piano Black Inlays (NCO) -
    S-Line MFSW 243
    Split Folding Seats 394

Thats alot of extra spec alright. I didnt realise there was that much of a difference. Still, its a lot of money to spend on an A4. Could have had a 520d for the same money.

I dont know if that is right ROR, but i do know that for a new 143 bhp s line the duty is 6,500 and then whatever extras is on that, mine is the 143 and it doesnt have as many extras as you, without the cost of the extras as i dont know what they will be, the car will be coming in at approx 35,000 euro inc vat and duty, i was getting quotes of 45,000euro for standard s line in the south...

It will fit right in with the other 90% of the silver cars we have on the road. Classy has never been common.

Which figures? Ros.ie vrt office and isaacagnew mainly

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,035 ✭✭✭✭-Chris-

What I'm asking is, what is €6,500 calculated on?

If you don't have the full spec to Irish pricing, you won't be able to calculate the relavent VRT amount - the ros.ie calculator is useless for a higher spec car.
If you already have figures calculated by Agnews for you, you don't need to ask us here.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 174 ✭✭DirtyOilBurner

6,500 is the vrt on a 2.0tdi 143bhp s line, what i dont know is how much more than that its going to be for extras?

Red......mmmmm, not an A4 - an A5 yes, suits the coupé look. Too fussy in the 4-door.

Grey....OMG no. Just primer, with sparkles - the sales reps colour of choice.........
