    i am interested in purchasing a laptop which will be used for recording music. what type of laptop should i be looking for?

    It all depends on what you want to do and what your budget is. I like macs and if you can spare 2,500 you will get a laptop that will cover a multitude. Let us know what sort of money you can spend or what you want to do and we can be more specific. :)

    I have around 1200 to spend. what type of memory etc should i be looking for?

    Well things like RAM and harddrives can be upgraded at any time so I'd make sure the rest of the hardware is a good as you can get. I'd look out for bus speeds on the mobo, which can bottleneck your system under heavy strain.

    I was in a similar situation a while ago and went for cubas essential and a Dell laptop. Outgrew it very quickly. You could get a full grown-ups version of Logic and a macbook off these guys and have change for some sort of interface without looking back. The additional ram is only £25 per 2gig card at the minute and logic is only £199 due to a promo Apple are running.
