hey!i just want to ask if you are able to create your own society as such when you go to ucc? cos me and my friends we have this youth organization thing going, and it'd be pretty handy to be able to actually function under ucc?

I'm not too sure. I think if you can show that there would be enough interest (and its all legal and that) then there shouldnt be any problem. I know there was an agnostics society set up this year. As far as i know they had a petition to show there would be interest.
Although I suppose if you look at the list of clubs and societies on the UCC homepage (under current students) then you might find something that fits in with what your talking about. Generally there is something for everyone.
Although if you tried to set up an archery soc., then you'd have my support all the way. (I'm a tad too lazy to go about it myself. That and a complete lack of any ability for organisation on that scale...)

If you want to set up a Non-Drinkers Society in UCC, you'll have my support.I wish someone would do it cos I'm a bit lazy and not very good at organizing things

Was thinkin more along the lines of a group of non-drinkers that meet to discuss non-drinking things. Or socialise without alcohol. Although, I now realise, I may have been thinkin of the forum...
Actually, those guys might be able to help you, OP.

Thanks for the compliment. :P I think at the moment I'm the only person in WARPS that doesn't drink like a fish, and that's due to a medical condition.

thanks for the info, we have this pro-europe thing going, with the aims to broaden the understanding of the europe's many cultures, especially for the young people. We hope to do this mainly through exchanges but thats a dream for the future really, cos we just had one meeting so far to establish ourselves as a non-profit organization and we want to get the first project going while we're still in secondary school but it would be very helpful if in september we could be under the ucc wings.:D
just as a matter of interest anyone interested in that kind of thing?

Aodan, Med Ren do archery around every second saturday, I'm not sure exactly when the next one is but drop one of the committee an email and you should get an answer
(failing that you can PM me)

OP, International Relations Society will be your friend for that:)

To set up a society you need to submit an application along with 100 signatures to the societies guild. If it's a fairly original idea that doesn't clash with another society's aims you should be sorted. :)
