Hi all, just looking for some advice.
I bought a property a few years ago for myself and partner. It was bought in my name as she was out of work at the time. She is back working and helps me to pay the mortgage and bills etc.
I was just wondering what to do to protect myself in the event anything happens to me. I would not like to see her out on the street! We do not have any children yet but are engaged to be married.
Would anyone have any advice on the best way to play things? I dont really want to go and deal with the bank again to put her on the deeds of house as we hope to be granted planning permission in her name sometime in the future!

    Thanks all!

Talk to your other half, agree something and the two of you get solicitors to draw up wills. I imagine doing this as a contract risks tax issues.

Be wary of using the same solicitor as there is a risk of the will being contested on the ground of lack of independent advice.

Also consider life assurance. There are some specific tax-efficient packages for situations like this.
