Assuming you are Irish (or a citizen of one of the other visa-waiver nationalities), you just need to fill out the form at https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov more than 72hours prior to your flight. Once you have an approval response on that site, you shouldn't have any trouble getting into the US. If there are any problems, this site will tell you, and you will probably need to go to the embassy to sort it all out. The information you fill out on that form is valid for 2 years (you just need to update your flight details / destination anytime after that if you travel again).

    Hope this helps!

Fill out that form VERY carefully for each person IMMEDIATELY.
Print off a copy of your on-screen acknowledgement for each person and bring them!
Don't forget to put the ZIP code with the address.

Bring the address with you as you will still need to fill out a paper form on landing as previously. The system is very new and there are bugs.

Do all that and you should sail thru. Good luck.

PS I was there 2 weeks ago, so this is from recent experience.

There's a sticky at the top for this already.
