It looks like we're moving to a 3 day week. Which I guess would make me part time. Would I be entitled to anything like rent allowance or a free cup of tea, anything?

With a 3-day week, you might be entitled to claim partial social welfare benefit. See here:

Another thing to remember is that if you change your contract, this will affect your ability to claim redundancy, should that occur. In other words, if you move voluntarily to a 3-day week now and you're laid off in 6 months time, you might only be entitled to a fraction of the redundancy that you're entitled to now.

You will need to check a good few things out, and be resigned to filling in lots of forms. And all the forms will have to be gotten and returned to different places.

I would imagine that you will be able to claim dole for the other three days, you may also be edible for Family Income Supplement, you need to be working for 20 hours a week to be eligible.
Most importantly though, you may be eligible for a medical card, if not a full one, you may get the GP card. Thats a big help, not having to pay doctors bills.
Go to somewhere like Citizen's advice, as they will have all the appropriate forms in the one place.

Not really sure after those three what you would be eligible for though.
