Overwriting the value in a field with another value MS SQL

I have an MS SQL 2000 database where if certain conditions are met I want to overwrite the value in one field with the value in another field.

Does anyone know if this is possible (and how to do it) if both fields have a datatype of VARCHAR 50?

    Thanks

    MM
