I would have to agree. Purely from personal experience, Donegal seems to have an unusually high number of 'boy racer' types yet, despite being a regular visitor, the only place I've seen a Garda speed checkpoint is near the roundabout at the junction of the N13 and N14. I've never seen an 'ordinary' Garda checkpoint up there.

Even though Longford, Cavan, Westmeath and Monaghan are also mentioned, it has to be said that these counties will have a fair bit of 'through' traffic whereas one doesn't really have to go through Donegal to get to any other county (with a couple of exceptions eg. Sligo to Derry).

Every second car in Donegal also seems to have illegal number plates.

wait, no, that's not a good thing. /o\

Whats to expect I guess. I haven't been stopped in 7 months of driving since getting my learners permit. Haven't even seen a checkpoint..

    Interesting isn't it!

I drive what my wife refers to as an 'old man's car' and I am stopped several times a week here in north Co Dublin.

I was chastised recently by a female Garda for having my tax/nct/insurance discs on the upper part of the windscreen. Technically she was correct but it makes one wonder how those with no regard for the law get away with it.

    *shakes head*
