If Britain asked us to come Back?

If Britain was looking at Bebo tomorrow and seen its old Ex Ireland had signed up, with who its had a bad break up a few years ago with and decided to get back in contact with her to see if she wanted to get back together. Would it be such a bad thing?

If they said to us, except our Tax and law system, dump the Euro and take on the Sterling.

Get rid of the Government how it is at the moment and take on a Assembly similar to Scotland/Northern Ireland/Wales. Where we can change the smaller Laws but have to follow suit on Big ones.

Let us keep neutrality has Irish citizens are free to join the British army anyway.

NHS takes over the hospitals etc, the Garda would get a massive upgrade better equipment.

Downside. Queen has head of state not Pork Chop Cowen.

With National identity being slowly sucked away by Europe and it wont be long before Brussels starts turning Country's into County's.

Would it be such a bad thing if we held hands with Britain again?

Couldn't be further from the truth.

And no, we wouldn't want to part of the UK. Their economy is ****ed. And they have silly accents.

What is it with these latest back to Britain threads?

Have posters got no frakin kop-on and just like to keep asking mundane irrational stupid questions?

At the moment I wouldn't think twice. Anything to get away from Fianna Fail incompetence, cronyism and wastefulness.
It's probably the closest thing we'd get to an overhaul of the political system in this sham democracy.

Would learning the language be a requirement?

No Bloody way. (Not that the following will creap in through the EU Constitution)

KGB style Police force set up in the UK to spy on domestic extremeists.

It looks like the UK is following in the exact same footsteps as the former soviet union. A KGB style secret police intelligence unit has been set up to spy on Leftwing and Rightwing political groups.

The Confidential Intelligence Unit (CIU) has the power to operate across the UK and will mount surveillance and run informers on ‘domestic extremists’. Its job is to build up a detailed picture of radical campaigners.

Targets will include environmental groups involved in direct action such as Plane Stupid, whose supporters invaded the runway at Stated Airport in December.

The unit also aims to identify the ring-leaders behind violent demonstrations such as the recent anti-Israel protests in London, and to infiltrate no-Nazi groups, animal liberation groups and organizations behind unlawful industrial action such as secondary picketing.

The CIU’s role will be similar to the ‘counter subversion’ functions

No, but the British taught them that before they took off, with an extra lesson on corruption thrown in for free.

If they round up those Plane Stupid imbeciles and send them to a gulag in Shropshire, then I, for one, welcome Britain's new KGB overlords.

They wouldn't need to be, put new battery's in the clock and do the job properly the first time without spending all the money down the pub on rounds for all the people you don't like.

I for one welcome our new tea-swilling Imperialist overlords...*

Have you seen the job they made of the roads in NI ? Roads are better in the free state imo.

e.g. the drive from Dublin to Monaghan then try to get through Tyrone.......(on the way to Donegal) + M1 ends basically at the Border the rest is rubbish to Belfast.

    No way Jose.

Britain should be asking us back! I mean they don't call. They don't write. They don't even superpoke us.

Now replace 'Britain' with 'Government', and 'back to' with 'get rid of/imcompetent/omg' and sit back and smell the ironing.
