    Hello,

I have been siging on for a few months but I want to cover up this a bit and say I was signing on just since the start of the year.

How can I hide this from my new employer?

What's the problem with disclosure. In fairness chances are with the numbers now claiming unemployment that they've interviewed a few more in your situation.

In the light of current economic conditions, I find it hard to believe that any employer would attach a stigma to anyone unfortunate enough to have been unemployed for a period of time.

I too would advocate telling the truth.

Can you not send your P45 directly to the Revenue, rather than giving it to your new employer?

From a payroll perspective you don't have to tell your employer when you last worked. Your P45 is not relevant as you are now in a new tax year. All you have to do is call your tax office and tell them who your new employer is and they will issue a tax credit cert to you and your new employer.
