Anyone make any suggestions, I'm very much out of the loop where socialising in the city is concerned.
Anyway, going out with some friends; all singles 30 something females, on Valentines night and wondering where to go in Limerick on a Saturday night - some place where there will be a good atmosphere and we can have a laugh which isn't full of loved up couples or full of people under 25 - no offence to either groups!!

Yeah I would second that you could try Nancy Blokes alright. Usually there be a good atmosphere in the Outback section especially just inside the door by the bar.

You could try Smiths bar across the road or even the Old Quarter as it usually be hopping on a Saturday night.

Similar situation group of us ranging from 25 to 39, all single ladies will be heading out on the night of "Singles Awareness Day". Will be going to Nancys & Flannerys probably & if we decide to go to a club Angel Lane. We would go out most weekends & those spots are normally good craic with a good mix of people

Angel Lane used to be where Arthurs Warehouse was many moons ago.

Aubars is hit and miss. Sometimes its busy other times its dead. Think its still free in before 12. There may be alot of couples knocking about tho.

Oh sorry about that. You cross the road from Nancys', keep to the left of Smyths bar, and its only 50 yards up the road. it was previously called The Market.

Anyhow have a good nite then........

Anal pain as I like to call it... not from experience by the way, is just opposite nancy's really. about 3 minutes down the road. Nancy's is your best bet but expect to qeueue for hours for a drink. Smyths is bigger but younger. mind you Nancy's has pretty much the same crowd a lot of the time. Overall I'd say Nancy's or smyths are the best bets.

Oh I wish there was another few pubs to go in that area that were decent. Old Quarter is fairly rubbish, the cuckoo box oozes ignorence and Flannery's.. well Flannery's is good actually. its ok like.

Isn't Angel Lane the old market?

Ahhh yes, I remember the Market, from about a million years ago!
What about the Sin Bin, yah or nah???

Not sure about the Sin Bin as not been in an age.
However I was in Au Bars a few weeks back and it was a great night.
Nice mix of people, late 20's/30's and the music to start with was great for dancing but then it got a bit more chart sounding.
Still a good night was had.

I was in Angel Lane aka Market aka Saints n' Scholars recently and it's basically the same...16year olds running around legless out of their head.
Was actually on a Thurs night so this prob explains that but still a very young crowd.

Thursday is a student night, what would you expect? If thats not your thing I wouldn't go near a club Tues - Thurs. I would go there regularly at weekends & the crowd ranges from mid-20's to 30's. I'm 25 & I would be at the younger age range of the crowd that frequents the place.

Au Bars is nice, was there for the launch night of the club a few weeks ago & good mix of people. Music was quite chartsy so you can have a bit of a bop. Drinks are a bit expensive but club is free before 12.

The sinbin is ok, hit and miss really could be packed one week dead the next. age group ranges from late 20s to probably late 40s.

Music is good, but costs €15 for the club on a saturday night which is expensive enough. Saying that its probably where we head valentines night.

Wouldn't want that sort of thing going on in a night club now. :D

If you want a good night.... DON'T GO TO ANGEL LANE .... Nancys is a good spot to go to....But if you are on the hunt for men I would head to Clohessy its a late bar until 2.30 also they have a nightclub down stairs

What is this based on??? As someone who goes out regularly I find it a ridiculous statement, apart from your opinion on Nancys that is. Clohessys is ****e for men & I should know I used to work there. Angel Lane is a good spot for an enjoyable night out & you will find men in every club in the town (although I don't think the calibre of man in Icon or T.Rooms is very high)
