everyone does some irrational things... what strange things have you done?

I slipped one day and thought I broke my ankle... I crawled, sobbing from my bathroom to my bedroom and painted my toenails cos the polish was chipped and I didn't want the potential Dr McDreamy in A&E thinking I was a skank... it hurt so badly...

Oh and I've just built a fort around my bedroom door cos I'm home alone and creeped out about house being burgled... I've kitchen table against back door and my bedroom door locked and my study desk in front of the bedroom door so nobody can kick it in.... (lets hope there isnt a fire)

YES I am mad... how mad are you....

I don't let my feet hang out from the bed in the dark, because I'm afraid a disembodied pair of hands will grab and tickle them and never stop. :(

I drove from Limerick to Cork a few years ago with a broken foot, cos I knew if I went to hospital in Limerick and they put me in a cast it'd be very difficult to get me and my car home to Cork :D

    That's the opposite of irrational.

I always have to check that i turned off the Iron even though i know and remember turning it off. Checking doors are locked also.

Every time i go on holidays i check the car is locked in the car park, but once i'm in departures i'll doubt myself.

I did this also with a fractured left wrist, changing gears was a painful experience.

One of the most irratating things that gets me is people in cinemas. One night this lad was munching away on his popcorn with his mouth wide open while coughing out garbage to his mates "n da hoodz". Couldnt get into the film for 30 mins because of those tools. So I think people eating with their mouths open is the most irratating.

Thats mild OCD. I'm the same.

I am forever doing things like this, especially with the car and hair straightener.. i will lock the car door then tug on the handle 4 times and say its locked then when im walking away i will forget that i have locked it and go back and check LOL it gets annoying if im ever going out to get food :o

I wash my hands a good 20 times or so a day. I hate having charcoal in my hands even though I use it pretty often. After a painting session I'll be cleaning them for a good 10 mins. I also wash them when I know I'm going to be getting them just as mucky in 2 mins. I also avoid anything to do with fish as much as I can.

1.My clothes are folded and facing a particular direction. My clothes hanging in my wardrobe are in this order shirts, dresses, jackets and coats... Why because i have to balance the length! Plus they are arranged by by colours too, if anyone touches anything in my wardrobe even after a week i always notice(my house mate hates this, cause i always know when she's taken something from my room)

    2. I fold my underwear

    3. I have a ritual, i always make my bed every morning, sometimes i end up being late for work but i have to make my bed!

yep i have also stayed and done my nails after breaking a bone in my foot...but the doctor was a hottie! ;) i hate to say it but if i was going in to have a baby i probably would do the tan too..there would be lots of photos taken afterwards after all! ;)

If and if i ever have children(childbirth freaks the **** outta me) i promise to get my bikini waxed, toes painted and manicure done!

I always look things over 3 times to make sure i know it off by heart. It's more of a compulsive disorder tbh but it's pretty irational to me even though i might check something withhin a minute of checking it before but When I was doing my Junior Cert a couple of years ago I had a Geography exam one day, and I thought the exam started at 2:00pm like most of my exams in the afternoon did, but it actually started at 1:30pm. Needless to say i didn't look the timetable over that day and just when it turned 1:20pm I actually decided to look at it just to make sure. I almost killed myself getting to the school, and i managed to get there in time(Although I failed the exam anyway)

Also if I hurt myself and someone near I always make sure to get away from them before I deal with the pain. I know it sounds stupid but the last thing I want is for someone coming over to me to help me when i'm in pain. i blame my dad for that because he's supposed to be a tough guy and if i show my weakness to anyone i keep thinking of him inside my head and how i've let him down. I think i've said too much:o

I do that. But only cos if anything touches my feet during the night that I'm not expecting it frightens the life out of me. Always have to cover the back of my neck with my duvet so no-one can attack me in the dead of night.

I also have to have my wardrobe doors closed or something will crawl out of it and kill me.

    Stupid terrifying wardrobes...

I know a girl who closes her eyes just as she meets a lorry, and her reasoning is that she might panic if she sees how close she is

Me too. And I tuck the blanket in all round me so nothing can reach in and get me.:o

Before I started driving to work, I used to get the Dart every morning. The odd time - half asleep - I would put out my hand to hail it, like a bus, as it approached the platform.

Also my car has remote, central locking, but I still have to check that the doors are locked before I walk away.

My tv/radio ALWAYS has to be on an even number volume.

I also hate when light switches in the hall and upstairs are pressed in the wrong direction ie upstairs light being on when the switch upstairs is off!

I have to sleep with the door locked beside the window incase I've to make an escape!

I also have to memorize any phone numbers I hear. For for of loosing me smarties!

Monsters are statistically more likely to emerge from under your bed. You're less likely to see them coming that way.

Am I the only one gettin a massive sense of deja vu between this and the "thinks you thought you didnt think others do" thread??

Ive tonnes btw. Main one would be kicking goalposts when playing soccer, football (anything im a keeper in really) and putting my phone on silent incase I hear it (defeats the purpose I know)

I always have to lock the bathroom door, even if I'm home alone and know that nobody will be back for hours.

Also when I kill someone I need to stab/shoot them by a number that is divisivble by 3.

I know i have switched the heating and lights off, locked front and back door but sometimes just after getting into a warm bed I have to pop back down stairs to check again , just in case .I think it's more another family member's ocd than mine ,they insist I do it :(

waking up from an operation as they were wheeling me from the theatre into recovery and getting a massive panic attack about being late for work and screaming at the top of my voice to get out of my way as I hopped off the trolley to run, needless to say with various tubes and needles trying to comes with me. Lots of nurses held me down apparently before serious sedation........................

I nearly have to check is the toilet plugged out........... Seriously, I turn the car back to check is the door locked even though I have checked it 20 times before I left. Even starting the car and going back to check the door in the knowledge that the keys are not in my hand and hence I couldn't have subconsciously opened the door in the process of checking it as the car was running......
Worse again, ringing my house phone from the car to make sure I hung up before leaving the house!
    The OCD list goes on!!!

When trying to avoid someone, (or play hard to get), i put my phone on silent hoping i'd miss a call from them or that a txt would come through ages before i see it, but i end up checking it every few mins, even through the night, i have a sleepless night checking the damn phone.

A friend of mine went into labour, her waters had just broke and she went to the bathroom and shaved her legs before ringing her boyfriend.

I bought tickets for a concert thats on in june a few months ago..i put them in a box in my bedroom and i check the box every few days to make sure they are still there.

I hate to get rid of things that i might need in time to come, so i have a bulging folder full of cr*p , like bank statements from 2001!..
