Tought Id post this because it might be interesting, its to late and dark to go fixing anything at the mo so I might as well get some opinions other than my own.
    Heres the details.

    -93 Mazda 323 1.3 (with doors attached)
    -Usually splutters in the cold
-Was started yesterday but only for a few seconds
    -Was'nt started at all today
    -Usually starts fine
-I think its stopped making the whirring noise it usually makes when you switch on the ignition(fuel pump?) but Im half deaf and never really took notice of wether this car made it or not
-All HT leads are in place, there are no other loose or missing wires hanging around under the bonnet
-Yes it has petrol in it
-The battery apears fully charged because its cranking the engine fine and strong like it usually does

Thats all I can think of thats relevant.
I sat in to it tonight at about 8 o' clock and cranked the engine yet didnt start but it did judder a bit as though it was about to start but it never finished a cycle.
Personally though Im thinking fuel pump, I cant think of any reason why it would suddenly refuse to start other than a fuel problem.
Any opinions so I can atttack it with spanners in the morning?

if you spray carb cleaner or similar in the intake and it fires at least you will definitley know that its not gettin fuel and would eliminate some possibilities.

It could be the cold and if it wasn't started for a while a weak battery, it may appear to be fully charged if its lighting up the dash etc. When you get it going again bring it on a good spin so the battery gets charged fully. Those battery boosters are good for this purpose, but if you don't have one you may need a mate to help you push start it.
