I spent most of the weekend trawling Carzone for something in my budget that won't donate too much cash to the insurance company (even though I don't have a car or a full licence at 29) All in all I've spent about 6 hours today searching and finding some interesting bargains. I'm not regular poster to Motors but do follow your adventures fairly close. How many of you spend more than a couple of hours a week either on here or Carzone?

I spend a good bit of time on it. I am mostly looking for something specific but it always seems to be just above my budget! Many hours have been wasted away on Carzone.

Check out each multiple times a day.

Can easily waste hours upon hours looking at cars I'd love to buy.

I could trawl autotrader.co.uk for hours on end.And I'm not specifically looking for a car to buy, just seeing whats out there really and comparing prices etc.Its a dangerous hobby if you've got a ball of cash burning a hole in your pocket though!!

That makes no sense. Sometimes it's cheaper to import a car, sometimes it's cheaper to buy here.

Depends on what sort of cars your into. The majority of cars that i would be into would be cheaper to import myself.

Used to but cant stand the new layout so I use http://www.driving.ie instead, I do spend a lot of time on here, on adverts.ie and do be on a lot of other cars sites like http://itr-dc2.com http://www.iroc.com http://www.sxoc.co.uk

I do waste loads of time in college when I should be doing my 4th year project!

No matter what way you look at it, it makes no sense whatsoever to rule Irish cars out. The best way to bag a bargain is to cast your net as wide as possible - excluding any market can only work against the buyer.

Ok il give you that, the way things are at the momment some lads in the isdc club have been selling there Scoobys at some shocking prices, due to them losing there jobs.

But a year ago i would of stood by what i said about not buying Irish.

    +1 on that one.

I work in the trade, so 99% of my day is spent on driving.ie. Mainly because its fairly quiet, and it makes me look like im doing something.:D

Come on, bikki, completely excluding Irish cars never made any sense, not a year ago, not at 9.29pm last night, not now!;)

Try CBG, should keep you going for a little bit at least. Otherwise, I find eBay.co.uk good for burning up a few hours.

When I'm facking around on the internet looking at cars, the 4 sites that I would have open would be..

    eBay (uk- Not ie)
    Autotrader
Revenue.ie (for a quick VRT calculation)
    Carzone (for Irish Comparission)

One of my favourite searches on eBay would be, Cars under £1,000, with no reserve, sorted in order of ending soonest. You often see a few bargins slipping buy. You often end up buying one or two in a rush of blood to the head too (I have a 1992 MR2 gathering dust (and rust) outside my house since November. Although it should finally get some love this week.)
