Polar CS200 colours (silver/red), what do they mean...model, year etc.

Hi, I have noticed 2 types of colour schemes on the Polar CS200.

One is silver with red buttons like this PolorCS200.jpg

and the other is sort of cream/silver with grey buttons like this cs200_silver_front_500x500.jpg

I'm not sure if these are different models or years. Like is there any different features? What one should I look for? I'm a bit confused really

After googling it, I still have no definitive answer. I believe the silver/grey one is 2008 model.
(According to here and here and also Amazon)

So then what do the red buttons mean? Is it a 2009 model like Competitive Cyclist say it is here. I'm not convinced though, as I saw this review posted in 2006 on the red button model!

    Any help would be great.

I have the red buttoned one, seems to have the exact same functions as the silver.

It might just be the photos, and who knows maybe they are not actual pics of the displays but the second one seems to have a slightly higher resolution LCD than the first.

I would say that more than likely it is just minor cosmetic changes between model years.

Damn, I prefer the look of the red buttons, my bike is all red! Anyway, at least I got the latest one (I hope!) off Wiggle. Cheers

On the subject of the polar cs200, does anyone know if any magnet will work with the cs sensor or do i have to buy the polar specific one??

I don't know at the moment! My second faulty one is sent away and I'm waiting for the delivery of my replacement. I will let you know then!

By the way, are you talking about the speed (spoke) or the cadence (crank) magnet? I forgot to include the spoke magnet when I was sending it back to Wiggle (hopefully they don't notice!)

Cool, I'll try a normal magnet when I get it back. If that doesn't work and Wiggle don't notice the missing magnet, I can arrange getting my spare one to you. I'll get back to you asap! :D
