Sorry this may be the wrong place to ask this.... but

i recently got eset AV and installed on my dell laptop, however, although it is great it has one major flaw or problem with my machine, and that is i can no longer use my USB ports, which is frustrating as i work of an external HD.

When i plug in my USB the following happens... the laptop freezes and you have to remover the battery to reboot, when it reboots with usb connected it works fine, but if you add anotehr usb say your phone or camera or ipod the same thing happens.

    Please help me.

oh i do not have any other AV installed im running xp sp3

    Thanks in advance

First, this should be in Virus & Malware Removal!

Second, did you get Eset from a trustable source? IE, could it be infectious?

Third, Have you tried uninstalling it from your laptop and trying that?

Fourth, if you right click on my computer > properties > hardware > device manager, is there any little yellow triangle signs?

First, this should be in Virus & Malware Removal! I didnt put it in there as i dont have a virus but i see your logic!

Second, did you get Eset from a trustable source? IE, could it be infectious? No its a pure copy

Third, Have you tried uninstalling it from your laptop and trying that?think i have done that about 6 times now trying different things to do, ie with usb plugged in usb plugged out, i am an experienced user but this one is byond me!

Fourth, if you right click on my computer > properties > hardware > device manager, is there any little yellow triangle signs? not one

I wasnt giving out about not being in V&M, I was more hinting at the MODs, but also you might get a better response in there as Eset is an AV!

Anyway, Dont really know a quick fix, I would say back up everything and reinstall windiws but I suppose you cant since you cannot connect USB's
