BTEA and 3rd year work placement?

    Hi, just wondering if anybody has any info on this.....I'm a mature student getting the Back To Education Allowance and about to go on 3rd year work placement....thing is I wont be getting paid for my placement so am I still entitled to BTEA?
    Technically am I still classified as a student for the 6 months?
    Was gonna ring my local SW office but they never seem to answer phone and dont have time to call into them at the minute...

    apparently it is possible to get teh BTEA during the summer if you are doing some kind of voluntary work that is " integral " the course you are studying in that it comlements your degree and makes you more employable.

    im going overseas for the summer doing voluntary work as i got a letter from my course co-ordinator stating that my voluntary placement is integral to my study.

    so im gonna call the BTEA officer tommorow and explain the situation and hopefully i should still be eligible to get my BTEA in the summer.

    otherwise id just be staying on the dole at home during the summer anyway looking for a summer job with thousands of others...

    fingers crossed , i will letg you know
