Wales favourites for this one. Reckon The Scots are going to give them a real battle. Pity Murray and Hines aren't fit but that looks a good Scotland squad to me. As for Wales. look good all over the park. At least we'll finally get to see if they're worth the hype...

I have a feeling that Scotland will win out this. Will probably make it a srappy match which will suit them down to the ground. They will have their work cut out though with the wales backline especially shane williams.

No Mossy, suppose it's hard to fit him into the backline, big call.

Wales by ten, they are confortably the better team and with Hines and Murray out they have to be warm favourites.

Scotland played well in the Autumn tests. They created lots of chances that weren't finished off. If they take their chances today they'll secure more than enough possession to beat the Welsh.

Good man Toom, I am suffering today and didn't even realise you'd the match thread started already!:o

I just copied and pasted what I wrote:

The last place Wales wanted to open their campaign was in Murrayfield, and there's a real danger the Scots could do a number on the GS Champions. Scotland are a team on the rise, and despite Edinburgh's poor showing in the HEC, Glasgow were a bit of a relevation. They come into this match on the up, and at home they could be a very tough prospect.

Despite this, I think around the park Wales have a bit too much class, but don't expect Scotland to make it easy. I expect Wales to win by less than 7, although I wouldn't be surprised if Scotland shade it either.

Tough to call, but I'll go for Wales by less than a score.

What a hit by Simon Webster - I think he's knocked himself out hitting Martyn Williams.

How not to tackle 101. Ouch!

Huge scrum from Wales puts pressure on Simon Taylor, who gets pinged for holding on.

Stephen Jones pops over the resulting penalty.

    Scotland 0 Wales 3

I'm pretty suprised he's still on the pitch. It was obvious he got knocked out so it's a bit of a risk not only health wise but game wise from Scotland.

Lee Byrne should be in the bin - two times now he's bodychecked a Scottish support runner off the ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,155 ✭✭✭juvenal

Byrne is lucky to avoid injury there, he was taken out in the air and it looks like another Scot is out cold! Webster looks like he needs to go to hospital, madness that he was allowed play on.

The Welsh are taking players out off the ball, that's three times I've seen it happen.

Good call by Rolland, he's "not going to give him a yellow card on the stretcher", but it's a yellow card for the dangerous tackle.

Try Wales, Tom Shanklin. Suspicion of a forward pass there, would like to see a replay, very flat at least.

Scotland down a man, who got knocked out when taking out Byrne in the air, and not only was stretchered off, but sin-binned for his troubles.

    Scotland 0 Wales 8

    Scotland 0 wales 13

Some of the Scottish tackling is dreadful. They seem to be outmuscled at every contest. Surprising.

Disaster for the Scots, losing a scrum against the head on the Welsh 5m line, and Wales clear their lines and then get a penalty for Scotland not releasing the ball.

Could've made a game of it just before halftime, instead Jones has a penalty just outside the Scottish 22.

    Halftime - Scotland 3 Wales 16

What a crass, dull performance form Scotland. It'd be a long time before I'd let Cross wear an international shirt again, their discipline is horrendous. Wales contrary to what the BBC propaganda machine would have you believe are not all that.

The Scottish fast-rucking game is really exposing their limitations. If Scotland had any penetration or play-makers in the 3/4's they'd be in with a genuine chance....

    Try Wales

    3 - 21

That's the bonus point for Wales :P

Shane Williams over for his 45th try for Wales. Jones misses another conversion.

Scotland 6 Wales 26. Poor game. Can see the French running amok on the Scots next week in Paris.

    Scotland pull one back \o/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,155 ✭✭✭juvenal

Try Scotland, couple of minutes after Martyn Williams getting binned for a deliberate knock-on.

    Converted by Patterson.

    Scotland 13 Wales 26.

    William's decision looked harsh.

Sent a message to my dad saying I was falling asleep watching this match, he replies saying my message woke him, he actually was asleep :)

Almost a try for Patterson, but looks like a knock-on. Scrum 5 Wales.

Game ends with a mistake, which sums it up really.

    Very disappointing from both teams.

    Final score - Scotland 13 Wales 26

Christ! Nail on the head...insufferable...seems like the whole 6N is just an annointing prior to the inevitable coronation.....Davies was appalling.

I actually wouldn't mind. He is painful. Ireland performed far better yesterday. At least Guscott has the balls to suggest Ireland might teach Wales a lesson. Ireland are not afraid of Wales in Cardiff. Beat them with a drop goal in the dying seconds a few seasons back. More of the same please.

Yep have thought the same way for a while now. They're worse than the English.
