Analog Satellite - defunct?

My father has an old analog satellite receiver on the wall at home, got it about 12 years ago. There hasn't been a decoder for it in the house for a good few years since he got Sky Digital.

What I'm wondering is if the Analog satellite receiver is now useless?

I watch a lot of Polish and Russian TV in order to prevent myself forgetting the languages. I'm not sure what system I have in my house, but I know its looking at Hotbird anyway.

Not much left on analogue satellite these days. A fair quantity of German channels on Astra 1 and a handful of French channels on Atlantic Bird 3.

Check this site which is dedicated to analogue sat.
