Mr. Chippy, beside the Port Road round-about, have a 50% sale on all their food! Yep, that's on the take-away or sit-in prices. It's been running for a week, I think, but it's going to continue until further notice.

I was in there tonight, and it was packed! Good business sense I'd say :D

Bargain Alert - a bit too specific, but great if you're in the town.

Have to wonder what their profits were like before, if they can cut the price by half.

    Senna - lol - you're a "glass half empty" kinda guy? :)

Fish & Chips ... mmmmmmmm! Best I've tasted anywhere. I have to be glad they're just that bit far enough away from me that I don't go too often, especially in this weather.

Not the best fast food in town but its well handy after a night out..they stay open until something like 3.30 in the morning so you're never stuck for a burger & chips after the night club!

Except for the one my mate got there last week, they had some already cooked up on a shelf that they re-heated for 2 minutes before slapping into a bun.

    Manky....

I've always preferred The Friar's Rest over Mr Chippie, though half-prices are hard to beat.

Is Friar's Rest the one near Gormley's Centra?

The Friars Rest is just up the Glencar road a bit further, up beside Vivo and The Glencar Inn.

Was in there to eat today, had to leave for I couldent get a table.Cues all over the place!

Ye canny beat the Battered sausages and chip in there! All freshly cut chips aswell, not that crap you get in bags in most other places.

I had to leave as well! Place was crazy, packed out the door.
They were taking orders from people at the door waiting to get in.

At a guess I'd say its making more money.
There's easily 3 customers for every 1 that has been in it previously now.

If an average meal cost e8 for a person before now with the extra people they bring in 3*e4 = e12!

    e4 extra at a stroke!!

BTW how do I type the euro symbol ???

It varies a wee bit but try pressing the "Alt Gr" key (to the right of the space bar) and the "4" key together.

Theres a test page here for messing about.

assuming that it costs nothing to make the food! A more realistic example:

If they used to have a 50% profit margin

    1 person @ €8 WAS: revenue €8 cost €4 margin €4

    3 people €4 each NOW: revenue €12 cost €12 margin €0

"assuming" is the fail part of that post :D

I think this is the 3rd attempt that has been made by an individual to promote this establishment over a period of time. Im referring to a new account registered today with the sole purpose of promoting the premises which is against Boards.ie rules.

The thread was laying dormant for 21 months so I'll lock it now.
