Stuck midi notes in Reaper.

Hi lads, I've had a problem with reaper since I've started using it a few months ago, I thought when I got a new pc that the problem might go away but alas it hasn't. Basically the problem is when I'm using reaper to control my novation super bass station I get a problem where a note seems to get stuck and play constantly. The other notes that I have sequenced will interrupt the stuck note (the synth is monophonic) but when I stop the sequencer the note continues to play. The only way to stop it is to change the patch on the synth. This only seems to happen when the sequencer is in loop play and it seems to be the last note in the loop that sticks, or if I stop the sequencer it will be the last triggered note that sticks. I've also experienced this problem (although less often) using VST synths too. Anyone have any ideas?

sounds like a note off message isn't coming through. by any chance are you tracking the midi with a keyboard?
if so it's a problem with the midi keyboard. it's sending a note on (on that particular key) and not sending the note off.

...or midi loop - where the midi in and midi out loop around causing the information to 'feedback' - there may be an option to turn this off in reaper somewhere :)

You can test this by Unplugging the midi in cable into the synth if it's that problem

@ jtsuited, I have midi out from my soundcard connected to the synth and midi out from my midi keyboard going into the soundcard but I don't use the keyboard to trigger midi on that channel. I would generally just draw in notes to control the bass station and the use the keyboard to play a VST synth. But I might just try it with midi in plugged out and just leave 1 midi cable connected (midi out) and see if it makes a difference.

@Neurojazz, I'm not too confident with midi so I generally leave everything on midi channel 1, could this be the problem maybe? Usually I just try to get 1 midi task done at a time to avoid any conflicts, i.e I'll use midi out to control a hardware synth and record the audio and then I'll mute the midi out channel (or delete it) and do the next midi task.

I'm probably making a basic mistake because although I think I understand the theory of midi, I'm not 100% sure how to implement it in practice. Should I maybe use midi channel 2 for all outgoing midi and midi ch1 for midi in from my keyboard?
