Spare Sky box...how do I hook it up? (warning: I'm stupid)

Okay, we had a Sky+ box downstairs and a basic Sky box upstairs and decided to upgrade the basic box to Sky+. We also decided to keep paying for the basic box to use in another room upstairs.

So, the Sky man arrived yesterday, set up the new Sky+ box but didn't set up the basic box in the third room - he said it would be straightforward, I just needed to, eh, hook it up.

I took him at his word, only realising when he was long gone that nothing - and I mean nothing - is straightforward for me when it comes to this lark.

How do I set it up?

I have the TV and the box connected with a Scart cable, I've connected the old NTL box thing on the wall of the room to the Sky box (the aerial, I'm guessing :o - the Sky man used the NTL box in the other room to set up the new Sky+) and I've also connected the Sky box to the phone socket (is this necessary when it's not Sky+?)....but it's still telling me I have no connection.

Break it to me gently, how stupid am I being here....what am I missing?

    Thank you.

First, look at your dish. It's likely that you have a quad LNB, meaning 4 outputs. If you're using 2 Sky+ boxes, then all 4 outputs are being used by those two boxes. Only hope is if he changed LNB for an Octo one (8 outputs).

Thanks byte. I think I'll wave a white flag and give them a ring, maybe they'll be so kind as to send their man back to sort it out!
