Nominate the best newcomer of 2008.

To be eligible, the film must have been released on Irish cinema screens between 18/1/2008-7/2/2009 (inclusive) and not have featured in last year's awards. Each voter can only nominate a maximum of two people for this category. Any further ones shall be ignored. Please state the name of the film(s) where you recognised their talent and please try and ensure it's not someone widely recognised for the last few years.

Does it have to be a first role ever, or someone who has been around a while (TV, small movies) but broke through this year?

If the latter, I vote Rosemarie DeWitt (Rachel Getting Married)

No it can be someone who has come into the larger public eye, but may have been known in a lesser context before (e.g. Dev Pattel, who is far more recognised now than he would have been for "Skins").

Question - would it be allowed to nominate Russel Brand in Forgetting Sarah Marshall? He is a newcomer to cinema screens this year...

Id like to change my vote of Dev Patel to Russel Brand (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) if it is eligible. If not, then use the Patel vote.
