How to cool your face after shaving

My face gets really hot and red throughout the day after shaving. I have tried different aftershave balms throughout the years and never found them any good. Can someone recommend something that keeps your face cool for the day after shaving? Thanks

Try a light moisturiser ,or have a look in the mens Nivea section at your pharmicist ie , Boots .

I use Nivea for men cooling aftershave bam, it's the one in the hard/ceramic bottle, works very well for keeping my neck rash and red spot free.

In addition to that have you tried a different cream. I use Proraso cream which moisturises and soothes your skin as you shave. I also use a glycerine soap before hand to soften up my skin. I find the combination of all of that rather than just an aftershave balm has completely eliminated any redness.

Clinique have three different post-shave lotions:
    http://www.clinique.co.uk/templates/products/multiproduct.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CAT1033

I've used al three and found them much better than Nivea and the likes
(much lighter on your skin and doesnt leave my skin feeling greasy).

Out of the three I'd go for post-shave healer or the post-shave soother
    anti-blemish formula.

Another tip, it's half price in duty free in Heathrow and one third of the
price in any airport in USA.

Also, have you tried using an alum block?

Thanks guys. Im going to try the Proraso (im using Palmolive classic cream at the moment), and some Nivea and Clinique. I just read up on the alum block, how do you find that Gran Hermano?

I'd try a different shaving regimen rather than try to fix the redness, try to prevent it. Have you considered using a safety razor?

Another thing to try is Coral Skin Food, Trumper make it and it's easy to find on the web.

Ive just ordered a merkur and a sample pack recently thanks to the ongoing discussions here. Do you think using the safety razor would help?

Im also going to order the green Proraso. Have you tried that cream, MediaTank?

Great. IME most redness, or so called sensitive skin is caused by poor shaving technique/multiblade razors. Also, you might try the Newbie Checkin Forum on badgerand blade.com for advice.

I've used lots of creams but have only received my first Prorasso tube today from Connaught. It smells great. The other cream I would recommend is Taylors Avocado.

Let's know how you get on.

MediaTank, I saw last week that Sam's Barbers in Dame Court, D2 sell Proraso. It might be helpful for anyone who's stuck and needs some or can't order from t'internet.
