Crunchy knees

I'm just wondering if any else has this. Basically my knees make a slight crunching when pressure is on them. Doing squats, jogging etc. I jog a couple of times a week, nothing too major.

They have been like this for years. There is no pain at all.

Is it something that all joggers get, or should I be worried?

Note: I posted this on the training log section, I meant to put it in the athletics/running/triathlon section is there any chance one of the moderators can move it?

All Joggers do not get this!

If my knees were crunching i'd visit a knee specialist - don't waste time on a GP unless he very knowledgable in sports medecine.

May be worn/torn cartilage or meniscus - see a professional this may haunt you in your later years or sooner.

Might be worth having a look at the thread discussing Glucosamine

    Hey Daithinski,
I would recommend that you go and get examined by a registered health professional with a sports injuries background. Ask friends and family if they can recommend someone that they have received good treatment from in the past.

Glucosamine wont be a bad idea as previously posted. If you do get Glucosamine make sure you take a dose of >1200mg a day for it to be "effective"

Feck it anyway. I'll go get them checked out. Fingers crossed its something that can be sorted out. Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah best to get checked out for that,
A good supplement for lubing the old joints is cod liver oil capsules, or for vegetarians like myself, flaxseed capsules, it really works wonders on cracking joints!

i know what you mean...I run and I'm also in the middle of my fourth ski season. Every time I get up and down now from the couch my knees crack.

I've been taking 1g of Glucosamine Sulphate a day and it's definitely improved for me.

I went to a sports doctor today. They told me that if there is no pain/swelling its ok. Its wear and tear on the back of my knee cap due to it not being in its groove. I have to go to a physio and get some exercises to correct it. Also she recommended to get some custom orthotics made up.

I going to take glucosamine and cod liver oil supplements to see if that helps.

But she said its still ok to jog. Hooray:)

As there is no pain there is no need to be worried. Don't mind all those hypervigilant hyperchondriacs advising you above:P:D
