2.1 meter Architrave lengths

I have purchased oak doors, skirting and architrave from my local builder providers for a new house build.
Stuff was delivered and everything looked ok
Starting hanging doors the other day but when I went to put the architrave on I found it to be too short !!!
It came in 2.1 meter lengths ( 3 lengths for 1 side of each door )
    The doors are standard sizes
Rang builders providers, they didn't really provide much help, other than to say this has happened before with other people
They contacted the supplier of the architrave, who say the architrave is supposed to sit on top of the shirting boards, hence the short lengths
This doesn't make sence to me, I've never seen architrave sitting on top of shirting board, I can't see how this would work either
Builders providers offered to try other suppliers, but they came back saying 3 other suppliers all do the same 2.1 meter lengths, which it too short
This has left me puzzled, but because of a tight schedule, I now haven't time to source longer architrave, so I am joining the architrave lengths to make them longer, adds a lot of extra work and doesn't look perfect because of variations in colour but I'm stuck with it now ...

Can anyone out there shed some light on this for me ...
How are these 2.1 meter lengths of architrave supposed to be fitted ?
Why are they this short, 2.2 meters would have been long enough !!!

    This is a rediculous situation.

I know in some places and in previous times in ireland the architrave was finished to a Spud at the bottom of the door frame. This was to lift the endgrain up from a floor whic would get wet on ocasion.

You could also consider a rose in the top corners rather than a mitre.

Didn't think of a rose, that would work if I could find white oak ones to match the architrave
I suppose my question here is why are they only 2.1 meters long, and it's not just one supplier, 3 other suppliers use the same lengths
I also went to a different builders providers and they had solid oak architrave ( not veneered ) but again it was 2.1 meters long
The only thing with this stuff was it wasn't as wide which ment the miter wouldn't shorten it as much, but I think it would still be too short
Am I missing something here ... Doors are 813 x 2032mm, when the miter is cut at top of the architrave the short side of the architrave is shorter than the door !!

aswell as the rose you can put a decorative block under the archatrave. the block can be as big or small as needed to make up the length.

this is standard enough size for archetrave, it used to work with 30 inch doors,
never heard of a spud, but we have often used plinth blocks which r prob the same thing, u can easily use the same timber that u used to make up the door frames to make them up, ur carpenter should be able to do this, if not any joinery shop can run them of for ya, might be the best option as it would not take long to get them,
alternatively just order a few more lengths of the archetrave

    Send it back.
How did they know you needed a Spud - or force you to use a spud. This is an old fashioned design and you might want a contemporary design - 3 piece architrave without unnecessary timber mouldings.

Get a Joinery to cut proper lengths of architrave for you.

A joinery could be expensive, I am a retailer and this is standard for oak architrave to be 2.1m lengths.
not saying its right it just seems to be the case!

Get afew quotes from Joiners, if you want full length architrave. Oak is expensive anyhow - nice to have it the way You want it.

IMO Its better than being forced to "tack" on little squares of wood, which also cost money!
