This question is probably asked everyday and if so please feel free to delete mods.
Basically i have been looking at god knows how many websites/travel agents over the last few days, I found one place that was reasonable but apparently it was miles away from everything.
I would be grateful if anyone could suggest a good resort for skiing (apart from bulgaria) and possibly a few websites where i could get a good deal.
    Thanks a million
    DJ

You might get a late deal with one of the tour operators below. If your thinking of going very soon i would recommend going to Norway, i live there and we are getting the best snow we've had in years. You could fly to Torp with Ryanair or Oslo Gardermoen with SAS and then go to one of the resorts around or near Oslo. You could do it DIY if you want, book your flights, rent a car or get a bus, arrive at a hotel and check in. Hemsedal would be the nearest to Oslo, if you want to travel a little bit further to a much better resort i suggest Trysil, its about 210km from Oslo city.

Hemsedal has a direct bus transfer from Torp so that might be the cheaper/easier option. The bus to Trysil only leaves from Oslo City bus terminal (Oslo S), so you could fly to Torp and get the bus/train to Oslo (2 hours) or fly direct to Oslo with SAS as i said before, if you fly direct you will have to get to the Oslo Bus Terminal (Oslo S) to catch the bus to Trysil.

Its really not that difficult to book it all yourself, dont be afraid to.

If you are feeling adventurous. You could just get a plane to the Alps and see where you go from there. This year, everywhere had great snow, so you can take a chance on the sort of resort that is lower down both in height and price. Once you are on the spot, you'll be able to find a cheap B&B or small hotel.

A lot of people get very snobby about ski-in, ski-out. While that's nice, you generally pay for it, both in higher prices and crappy access at night. If you are prepared to sit on a shuttle bus for ten minutes, you open up a huge number of hotels for half the price and twice the quality.

For instance, Hotel Malgovert in Seez looks on a map to be miles from skiing, but the free shuttle bus stops outside the door, and takes you right to the Les Arcs funi, so you are not doing any walking in ski boots, but are paying a quarter of what you'd pay in Les Arcs itself.
