Garage for Lexus RX300 service in south Dublin

Hi folks - Have you any suggestions for where I might get a good value service for my Lexus RX300 service around south Dublin, ideally near the green Luas line. I used to use Carroll & Kinsella in Sandyford Ind Estate, who were pretty good but pretty dear. Am I right in thinking that the garage would need Lexus testing equipment and/or software to do a decent service that will get me through the NCT?

    All suggestions are welcome.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm wondering if he (or other similar places) would require specialist equipment and/or software to service my yoke?

Probably wouldn't need software for an NCT service. Any decent independent garage should have all the necessary equipment; dealer software is usually used for fault finding and sometimes niggly crap like resetting service lights, etc. Many garages have third party equipment that reads fault codes and resets service lights on most cars. Advance Pitstop have a fixed price oil service for most cars, that should do it but I'd pick up the filters etc from a Lexus dealer before hand.

Word of warning though, rolling up in a Lexus to a garage and saying to 'give her the works' before an NCT is like writing them a blank cheque. Far better to put it through the NCT first - if it fails then at least you'll have an independent assessment of what really needs doing and can bring this to the garage before a re-test. A basic service is probably only an oil and filter change and a good check over, any decent place (I see one poster mentioned Coby) should be able to do that.

The front suspension balll joints sometimes give trouble on that model. Put it tru for the nct first and see what they say, C&K also have a branch in Ballymount Ind Est.

Bumping 2 years later to see if there are any more suggestions for Lexus servicing in southside Dublin. Just to add to our woes, we now have a problem with the aircon where it is pumping out max hot air ALL the time. Great for cold weather - terrible on warmer days.

Any suggestions on possible good value and trustworthy garages for servicing on Dublin southside would be very welcome.

Did you find somewhere last time?

Is the North side out of the question?

MKW Motors in Kingswood Ind. est. very professional set up that can carry out all the repairs you may require. Try google "Bosch Car Service Mkw motors"

I went back to Carroll & Kinsella last time. I followed up with MKW, and tbh, the prices they were quoting me by email weren't significantly cheaper than C&K. It would be a bit of a nightmare to get back from and out to MKW without the car, so I'd really need a decent price difference to justify this.

Effectively yes, unless there is somebody with exceptionally cheap prices who is very close to public transport routes.

Years ago, I had a back-street garage in Crumlin - Justin (aka Gus) who was very trustworthy. I guess it is something like this I need, ideally somewhere within reach of the green Luas line.

I'd settle for cheap prices since I live on the northside lol.:pac:

Just bumping this again for this year's service - Any recommendations for a good independent garage in south Dublin who can handle a Lexus RX300 service would be very welcome

Try Niall in ISA Autos in Blackrock? Ph 2883914. He's a bit away from the Luas line, but I find him good, and reasonably priced.

That's an interesting option, and the DART line might even substitute for the Luas line. I'll check him out.

I'm still interested in hearing about other options too.

With a username like that I hope nobody recommends my garage :D

How did you get on the previous two services?
Did the garages not work out for you?

I stuck with Carroll & Kinsella - the work is grand but the prices are crazy. Just cant afford them at the moment.

I'm also looking for an independent specialist for a Lexus. Fairly sure I need new pads and discs and Lexus charge a small fortune for these. From living abroad, I know these can be sourced much cheaper for similar or even better spec.

Does anyone have a good recommendation?

Where are you based? Niall in ISA in Blackrock has done good work for me

Thanks. Anywhere near the n4 is most suitable for me (Lucan, Leixlip, Maynooth) or the city centre (Dublin 1,3, 8)

For basic servicing work, you dont need a specialist.

If yours is the 03-09 shape,Standard Service parts are a lot cheaper than you may think

Discs are from €40 upto €100 a pair for Brembos!

Pads are €40-50 for a full axle set

Thanks Mullingar, that's very helpful and a good idea how much I should be looking to bargain down part prices!

Can anyone recommend a good mechanic/garage in Lucan/Leixlip/Maynooth area?

Mark Allen in Straffan might be worth trying, a BMW specialist but they have a very good reputation.

I'd second mark Allen in straffan. Very good mechanic. To be honest you don't need a specialist do change disks and pads, any mechanic should be capable of doing them, if not well then they shouldn't be mechanic to be honest
