Yea, I love this. It's so true too. Poor men :(

Yeah, in fairness the McDonald's Eurosaves ones are usually very funny. Pity other marketing companies arent as innovative. And if I hear another woman go on about how she feels bloated. ..... ..

Theres a second one aswell where the parents are devestated because the son is leaving home. As soon as his back is turned the parents have taken over the room :D

Hahah, one of the better ads around at the moment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,159 ✭✭✭✭phasers

The McDonalds ads are really good, except that stupid flares one

"omg flares, so over" in that horrible false xpose d4 accent.

Love the one where the son moves out and the auld pair turn his room into a "special" room :pac:

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 329 ✭✭Leaderbored

Each to their own , and all that, but I don't really get why people don't like the flares ad.

From reasons quoted here & elsewhere, it seems mainly to be down to personal dislike of the accent used, but surely that's intentional?

They're supposed to be stereotypical, horrible, shallow fashionista bitches, hence the fake exposé accent!

I think it works.. The whole campaign is pretty good, actually.

    Eh?

I thought the joke was your one goes upstairs, he is about to get his bit on the couch then his bitch of a housemate comes down and starts ranting about all the little sh1te he has done wrong, ruining his buzz.

Or have I lived with too many clean freaks? :pac:

Possibly. Either way, you missed the campaign's entire "some things dont change" punchline.:D

Good, but all mammys know their sons will return back home after a few months ;)

I thankfully dont live with anyone like that anymore. Jesus though, my mate until recently lived with one who would leave notes in the kitchen detailing what the housemates had done wrong/hadnt done.

My money is still that it is his housemate ;) And if it isnt....well, it woulda made for a better ad!

Yeah. tbh with the recession I thought it was going to cut to the son actually moving back in, not leaving.

haha what are you people talking about? the idea of the ad is that he's on a date with this girl and then all of a sudden she 'changes' and becomes like a nagging wife. how didn't ye get that? how would the ad make sense if it was his flatmate?

You obviously have no experience of kill the party *Im terrified Ive been left on the shelf so every once in a while I have the urge to ruin my housemates night* female housemates in their early 30s have you ;)

It is his housemate IMO, the bird is new, he tells her where the jacks is ffs :) And the housemate even rants about "not being able to to bed early". Bad clothes, female bumfluff tache, rants about minor sh1t.....single housemate of the early 30s range, clearly. It works better.

Even if they used the same actress, it is hard to tell but sure they might have, tis a recession on after all :pac:

    Wrong.
She rants about him leaving the her/their bedroom window open.
Obviously a fast forward to their future together.

Yeah. ok. Anyway - in the first one, his date changes into a complete hag, in the second, the chaps parents change into a pair of randy swingers. You've missed the whole "change" point of the campaign completely. Never mind.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,604 ✭✭✭xOxSinéadxOx

ok well it DEFINITELY isn't the housemate!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,584 ✭✭✭shane86

IF it isnt it is a pretty crap ad  The housemate angle is alot funnier/ true to life.

How? His night changes from great to sh1t.

A mate who had a landlady pretty much like her (as above, early 30s, single etc etc etc) asked if I had seen the ad with "the bitch of a housemate". I think it is subjective for people who arent still living with mammy at 24 :)

You're definitely right, obviously people can interpret things their own way but I believe that they intended to portray the same woman further on down the line after the novelty has worn off.

Who are the two actors? Anyone know? Very funny.

The guy is Cillian Murphy, not of 28 Days later fame however. Think he goes by Cillian Scott to avoid complication.
    Dunno about the girl though.

Are you serious? You do not understand this ad at all.

ALL GIRLFRIENDS TURN INTO MINGING NAGS WHEN THEY ARE MARRIED!! IT'S LIFE!

    That's the joke.

Are your sure ? I thought it was all to do with how she says she's going to slip into something more comfortable, the guy thinks she's off to get some sexy underwear or something of that ilk but as we all know when women get comfy for the evening they stick on oul pjs or trackerknackers, remove their makeup and put all sorts of cream on themeselves. That's what happened here, i.e. she just came down after getting into something more comfortable. Don't think it had anything to do with flash forwards or any of that nonsense.

^ that is not the point of the add, as the poster above states it's to do with girlfriends turning into mingin nags.

I would say it's not, I take it that the girl says she's going to slip into something comfortable and that's what she does.

It's his GF, the point is at first she acts like a girl he's been on a date with or a fresh girlfriend, someone he's been dating for a month, she's great...sex is awesome, it's all fresh and in the lovey duvey stage....she goes up stairs comes back down and turns into a nagin old mare of a GF who you've dated for 4 years and annoyes the hell outta you....thats the point!

"some things never change"....god sake people.

Oh my gosh what is this mess of a thread?! The guy in the ad is indeed Cillian Scott, and the girl is one of my good friends Terri Chandler. I can assure you straight from her that it is meant to be the same girl later on in the relationship...some things change over time and all that! Can't believe that wasn't ridiculously clear anyway...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,159 ✭✭✭✭phasers

Why would you resurrect a 6 month old thread to tell us that? Nobody cares.
