Acer Aspire 3000 need help finding parts!

I have built my own PC's and know pretty much everything technical when it comes to PC's, but I am useless when it comes to laptop parts and maintainance. Mainly because I cant find any information online.

I need to find a spare DVD Drive for my Acer Aspire 3000 and I am finding it almost impossible. Can I get a generic from somewhere? If so which one? I also need advice on whether or not this laptop can take a memory upgrade and a HD upgrade.

I am wondering if all this will cost the same as a decent laptop for £399 at PC World in the north.

You might be able to locate one cheaper and closer to home if you removed the old drive and googled the make and serial number. I replaced the one in my Dell with a spurious one and had to do a bit of filing on the outer bezel to make it fit. Most laptop DVD drives are interchangible except for the outer bezel.

You should have no trouble getting extra PC_2700 ram and a 2/1/2" IDE HDD upgrade from Komplett.
