Just got a macbook and i don't know why i never indulged before. I was worried paying more for an average system but i now understand the whole thing... You are getting alot more in a mac book than a PC with similar specs, I never knew what people were talking about but there's nothing better than being able to personalize a laptop the way apple lets you!
the build quality is second to none!

If there is anyone out there thinking of changing to Mac but is reserved to do so, because they're an avid Windows user then you were feeling just like me 24hrs ago... Im LOVING my new Macbook!

Welcome indeed... As you already have discovered, Macs are lovely machines - I'm sure you'll love it more and more as you discover all the little nuances of the system. Enjoy :D.

What did you get by the way? Unibody MB or one of the "classic" ones? Given the comment about the build quality, I'm guessing a unibody :).

Im just so happy i got this laptop!!!

Welcome to the club. I love being that smug di*khead in the library with a Macbook. I made the move myself a month ago and I'll tell you this: I'm never going back to poxy Windows.

Thing is with a new Mac is that you feel bad having to scuff it up by taking it out. They might be too pretty. :D

    i hate people like you.

the smugness that comes with apple product is down right stupid tbh.

and yes i'm a macbook owner, an iphone owner and imac owner but do i rub it in everyone's face no? am i smug about it and smell my own farts? no. if someone asks my advice i'll suggest mac, i'll let them play around with it, give my opinion on their needs and what best suit them.

i use mac because it suits me, it doesn't suit everyone so this kinda pushy attitude that some mac users have "ohh mac os x is just better" is bull**** in my opinion.

That's a tad harsh, you don't even know the guy. He's posing on a Mac forum, and he's excited about having recently switched to the Mac - he's not hurting anyone. Save your "hate" for people that actually deserve it.

No you're right there. I was joking though. I don't like the smugness either. And I don't know about you but I enjoy the smell of my own brand.

Excuse me where have i said in my post that i am smug about owning a mac...I make no reference to being smug... As said in the above post keep your hatred for people who deserve it and calm down a little! Manners exist on the net too whether people know you or not

I like the smugness, owning a mac just makes me better than most people, I can't help it, so I embrace it like a naked women on a cold night.

did i reference you? or even quote you?

    cause i'm pretty sure i didn't.

Well the smugness is merely a consequence of having a massive penis, as all Mac owners inherently do.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,908 ✭✭✭Daysha

I don't think I'm ever smug about it, but I do enjoy the way how the people who've been telling me for months how crap Apple is are the same people who've slowly fallen for them ever since they saw me using one :)

Saying i hate people like you refers to me the OP seeing as you didnt refer to anyone else

i was referring to jackpalance, those smug people who think that just because they use macbooks feel the need to parade it into everyone's face.

i've been in the library in DIT Aungier street where's there's a lot of macbooks around and some of the sights i see are disturbing, people precisionly placing their laptops in such a way to make sure that person x will see the laptop.

your original post was actually my opinion on macs when i first got one, and it's still my opinion of them.

you mention you get a lot more out of a macbook than of another laptop of similar spec, this is true, but it's due to the OS and how well it is written to the likes of XP/vista. it's streamlined better, but that is inevitable as the OS is written to be run on a small array of certain hardware configurations.

you also mention the build quality, again very good point, the new macbooks are superbly built. apple first gen products do tend to have some build issues but not with the first iteration of these new macbooks, older ones had parts of casing turning yellow etc.

at the end of the day, you made the switch and you are loving it, that is all that matters. enjoy the macbook!

i just hate smugness and it's not just necessarily just with apple products, if i had someone driving a hybrid come up to me who tried to convert me and being "holier than thou" in my face, i'd slap them in the face with a trout.

I don't like the smugness either, buddy. But no one here really is, except in jest, like jackpalance. So why bring it up?

erm ok, there is a reason why we watch comedians in the flesh, it's extremely difficult to see when someone is joking especially in the quote below if there's no :D;):P in it. it was brought up because i believed he was being a smug asshole and i wanted to share my views on the whole smugness angle.

    Congrats OP.
I was in your shoes two years ago and got loads of help so check back here now and again. I do read the posts but don't realy post here much.

I didn't take my macbook out anywhere so wasn't out to impress anyone but you will love the way everything just works. I can't realy explain it, it just does.

Only one bad point I'll say against the macs is a lot of people have a good level in MS Excel, and MS Office on the mac just doesn't compare and realy nobody wants the hassle of learning some new program like Numbers.

    It's perfect for everything else

hang around here long enough and you'll realise that it's pretty much always in jest.

    if it weren't i'd be wielding the ban-hammer! :D
