Cowen calls for 'can do' spirit to overcome crisis

In light of the call from Brian Cowen for the "can do" spirit to help us overcome this crisis, something seems to have been overlooked.

That is the high cost of utilities, we have allowed ourselves to price ourselves out of existence. I believe that gas, electricity and telecomms prices have to fall commensurate with the wage cuts demanded of civil servants and almost all other employees (if there are any left). Civil servants have endured a 10% (and sometime more) wage cut, employees have taken,in some cases, up to a 25% cut.

So Mr. Cowen why ignore the obvious? Force the utilities companies to lower their prices too...that would be a smart start to facing up to this foreboding crisis.
