In the process of trying to collate a timeline history. Can anyone fill in the blanks? There must have been more papers in the 70s/80s.
    • The Student; 1954-64
    • University Gazette;1958-68
    • Campus; 1966-69
    • Confrontation; 1968-1969
    • UCD news; 1973-2003 (?)
    • College Tribune; 1989-
    • University Observer; 1994-

'Awake' was run in the 1960s but I'm not sure for how long.

Wow, it never occured to me that there were papers other than the Tribune and the Observer. I'm highly amused by the name and timing of "Confrontation".

    Confrontation
was run by a short lived radical group called 'Students for Democratic Action'. They were involved in the Dublin Housing Action Committee and various sit ins, occupations and marches between 1968-70.

Ruari Quinn (Labour TD), John Feeney, Charlie Bird, Kevin Myers and Manus O'Riordan were all involved.

The mainstream ones like the College Tribune and Campus are the stored in the UCD Library.

Getting your hands on Confrontation or some of the more short lived newspapers would be much more difficult.

Hibernia was a current affairs weekly which became the Sunday Tribune. A left- leaning paper, it featured contributions on the arts and finance, and a considerable amount of content relating to the Troubles. As the 1970s progressed it improved its style and increased its content.
Copies of it from 1974-1980 are in the basement of the UL library.
