Special Fit Out for Vehicle (Title change)

Hi, I know I could do a bit of legwork on this myself but I thought I would start with the lazy option & ask the masses....

I need to get 4 x Discovery & 3 C-Max transported to & from Germany in 2-3 months time. Anyone out there used a company to do a similar job?

It is a long story as to why I need to do this, they need to get a special fit-out that no company here in Ireland was willing to do, (or showed no competence to do the job, or finally maybe I just couldn't identify the correct company to do the job?. This company have done fit-outs fro us before but they supplied the vehicles that time. This time around we are sourcing the vehicles locally.

I presume NVD would do it?
    Anyone else?

Or does anyone know a specialist vehicle fit-out operation?

When you say fit out, what exactly do you need done?

I dont think NVD will do it, afaik they only operate within Ireland.

What sort of fit out would require transport to and from Germany?

I've dealt with various fit outs for various vehicles, from shelving and tail lifts to customer shelving and refridgeration, but these must be very special.

I will load some pictures as soon as Photobucket cooperates!

I wouldn't say the fit out is that special to be honest. It is just some minor modifications to allow some testing of networks from the rear of a car in relative safety. I talked to a few companies like Parfit, etc. & they were either not interested in tackling it or were weary of it.
The company in Germany do this type of fit-out for mobile operators all over Europe & they have completed two Mercedes Vitos for us in recent years. Their standards were second to none. I'll try get pictures the next time I'm in the Pale.

I should really have asked about fit-out companies rather than transport I suppose.

I got 10 Sprinters fitted out by Cafco last year, for engineers on wind turbines and was pretty happy with their work. Lots of shelving, split charge relay with seperate battery - about 20k of fit out all in all. Talk to Wil or Gerry on 01 864 2832.

Previously I got Wilker Auto Conversions in Clara, Co. Offaly (http://www.wilkergroup.com/) to custom fit shelving to a big number of vans. I'd be surprised if there was anything they couldn't do regarding a fit out - it's also cool to have a poke around their premises as they do a lot of stuff for the emergency services. Last time I was there they were finishing a mobile special care baby unit - about €500,000 of kit went in to that. Gregg is the man to talk to there.

    **edit**
Just seen the pics and that does look a lot more technical than building a few shelves from MDF. Does that stuff come in supplied like that,or do the Germans fabricate that?

They fabricate it from scratch. The merc van was a classy kit out. There was a fully adjustable Recaro seat in the back, It ran on a very complicated rail set up. It is like something out of the film Sneakers. There was a dual screen, docks with associated antenna cables, a built in split charger, rectifiers with multiple power supplies, optimally placed 12v sockets, shelving & presses, non-skid floor covering, etc., etc.

I have a few more pics to add of other jobs they have done. Thanks for the into on the companies above. I will definitely give them a call.

Thats a fair setup alright. I dont know of too many companies in Ireland that do it, but there is surely one in the UK that will?

Based on the latest photos, I'd definately give Wilker a call. Becuase of the amount of work they do with the emergency services, they are more than used to sticking aerials and electronics in to vehicles.

Might even stick some blue flashers on for you as well ;)

    +1 on Wilkers.

Our sister company has dealings with them, regularly. They do a lot of Garda cars etc too, so nothing there that's beyond them, tbh. We've also done a lot of OB units for telecoms.......we have a lot of in house experience on specials.

The only exception possibly, is that if it's a kit for your model specifically, that the Germans have done before, whether we/they could fab it competitively, or maybe we/they'd import and fit the German kit, for a fee - save all that shipping, etc.

Otherwise, yes NVD, Crosbie etc should have no problem moving those for you.

btw, I hope Junkyard doesn't see this, I presume reliability is a factor. Which explains the Renault in the pic :P :P

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

    Not Your Ornery Onager

There was a van with a load of gear like this outside my house for 3 hours last night. It was a 'Pizza Delivery' van. If it's there again I'll ask the guy in the back where he got it fitted out. :D
