given that you can get an 06 for 15k, and I'm guessing 38-40k for an 08, then my guess is about €25k?

This is likely to be my only ever post in the Motors forum but in the hope that it encourages the OP to hurry the fúck up and tell us the answer:

€15,000. Or else €28,000. Nothing inbetween.

Ok, I was expecting 5k - 6k per year so changing from 06 to 08 I was willing to spend 10k plus vat.

I was asked €20k plus vat. I apologised for wasting the salesman's time and scarpered with me tail between me legs :D

Well done bf you got it spot on. You're not a salesman in a toyota dealership in dublin by any chance are you :D

Why did you leave with your tail between your legs?

Ask him why the Toyota landcruiser you have has lost so much in value when they are such a strong brand?

Remember this for future dealership calls. It is a buyers market. Dealers NEED you!

Next time, hand him your card(if you have one) and tell him to ring you when he has a better offer.

Great advice - must try that when I'm shopping for my new Motor :)

Yes, but I'd say it's the 2nd hand car he was trading in that they could do without. If you're going cash only, you can get a great deal, but trading anything in now, even something that you would think is a good car and worth quite a bit, can kill that deal.

My friend tried to trade in his 1 year old Fiesta against a new one, most of the garages he talked to wouldn't even take it off him. They simply weren't interested.

I'd imagine in this case, the '06 Land Cruiser is now worth SFA on their forecourt.

Have you been changing for 5k-6k a year before this time??? How much extra were the extras when added new???? lots of extras, remainder of man. warranty(2years) on the 08, it may not be far out.
6k+6k=12k toyota sat nav, leather & climate controll cost nearly 7k extra on a friends new cruiser in 07 add a slight model face lift(is your spare on back dr) 20,000euro+vat is a lot of money but any less may not worthwhile for them. loads of 05/06 cruisers for sale at moment.
A custumer with an older tradein and more money up front is a better deal
for any dealer at the moment.

    Agreed....

Especially as it's an automatic, I'd say it's practically unsalesable.

To the OP, I'd say you're pretty much stuck with that bus for a few years.

    do I get a prize for guessing 25k :) (€20k + VAT).

to be honest, you should have nearly been expecting it. The '06 AUTO has run out of market, as the market for that car is now the agri market, and what farmer will buy an auto? none I'm afraid.

I asked a dealer for a trade on a LR 90 07 passenger version...I do a lot of country work as against my 05 e46 325Ci with 30km on clock, dark blue, leather Mkit , 18inch proper bwm alloys..car is mint......12 grand I was offered as a trade.!!! Screw you I said....its cheaper for me to use the bm mer as as a daily and pay 5k in the uk for a decent defender when I need to use it. Needless to say dealer I think is hoping some knight in shining armour is come in with a wad of cash....dream on.

2nd hand market is plainly destroyed in Ireland and dealers wont give trade ins, so they dont get sales. A vicious circle and until this rot untwines itself the car market for middle of the road cars is dead.
