No harm but would he not have asked someone that did?

Have a look at the Financial Regulator's site. It list sall intrest rates etc rather than get vested interests here.

Invest in Irish property. There's nothing as safe as bricks and mortar.

According to the Irish Times today, the best rate for a deposit account is:

Northern Rock at 5% - minimum €1000 balance.

    A.I.B. at 4.75%

    Halifax at 4%

YOU CAN CHECK THIS OUT AT AN POST ONLINE.BUT I THINK IF YOU LEAVE IT FOR 5 YEARS YOU GET 21% INTEREST.ALSO ITS SUPPOSED TO BE A SAFE PLACE FOR YOUR MONEY.GUARANTEED BY THE GOVERNMENT OR SOMETHING

This grabbed my attention but from their website it says:

"Investors will earn 21% TAX FREE over a 5 year 6 month period. This is
equivalent to an average interest rate of 3.53% per annum if the investment
is held for the full term. "

So it's really only 3.5% interest per annum?

OP, your brother should consider a career in banking himself.

He takes s small amount of his own cash, give the responsibility of increasing that sum to some poor student who knows sweet f*ck all while he sits back and waits for the dividends to fly in. If it doesn't work out, he'll sack you but still pocket what little interest he did make.

Well he's hardly given me responsiblity, asking me to have a look on the internet is hardly a hard task. He's making inquiries himself if your really worried about it. Your not being very helpful so why bother responding.
